Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action of 1995

The Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action of 1995 was proposed at the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, China. It was quickly adopted by 189 governments.

The Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action of 1995 focuses on 12 major areas:

  1. Poverty
  2. Education and training
  3. Health
  4. Violence
  5. Armed conflict
  6. Economy
  7. Power and decision-making
  8. Institutional mechanisms
  9. Human rights
  10. Media
  11. Environment
  12. Girl children

The progress has been slow, but it is steady. I am proud to advocate for the Declaration and Platform for Action of 1995, in the capacity of an individual using Eastern Siren as my platform. If you would like to get involved as well, head over to UN Women and get your badge to show that you are an advocate of gender equality.
